Are we really done?

have been with someone for almost 3 years and we have a 1 yr old together. We had our issues in the relationship and has been some mental abuse but on my part this time they are saying that they are done. It’s been over for a month in which i have been working on myself as well. I tried to talk about the relationship almost everytime er talk and he is now saying i pushed him away and he’s really done and never coming back but he still loves me. If i leave him alone for a while meaning not mention anything about the relationship is there a chance that he would come back?
