What is Day 1 Exactly?

Hi ladies!
I have done SO much research on what Day 1 should be considered and I get evenly conflicting answers. I called my doc today as well and I’m still a bit confused. I don’t know why. 
But do you count Day 1 as the start of ANY bleeding (spotting) or do you count it as the fist day of full flow?
I’m starting Clomid on Day 3 so I really want to be sure. TYIA!!

Day 1 is the first day of bleeding requiring a pad or tampon. Not pre period spotting, according to drlorashahine (reproductive endocrinologist I follow on Instagram)

My doctor told count first day the first thing you see actual blood not necessarily heavy just don’t count the day with light spotting

First day of full flow! Spotting doesn’t count. Although in the grand scheme of things, charting spotting as your first day really doesn’t make a big deal at all if you have regular periods.
