Any tips for living with a roommate?

Due to covid I’m moving in to college dorms in a month. It’ll be my first time living with a roommate. I’m excited, but also somewhat nervous- she and I are both night owls but she seems to define that as a midnight bedtime vs my 3 am bedtime. I’m hoping if I just have a lamp in the corner it won’t bother her.

My more pressing concern is my alarm... at home I set several jarring ones which sometimes fail to wake me up as it is (sometimes with very embarrassing consequences, I missed a meeting the other week). I’m in a tough spot because I’m double majoring so I’m working on hw or in class usually 7-11 hours a day (I try to give myself an hour of break time spaced out but sometimes forget to). On days with major work spikes I’ll sometimes sleep as little as 3 hours a night.

My only solution I can think of is a really bad one- pull an all-nighter days with 3-5h of sleep so that I won’t miss class the next day and won’t have to set jarring alarms that may irritate my roommate. I know that’s not sustainable over time but it’s really the only thing I can think of. I tried a variety of softer alarms last weekend and I slept through every single one of them on 8 hours of sleep :(

Anybody have any ideas? Any advice, either in general for roommates or specific to this? Like I said I’m very excited, just worried about this one thing!

PS I currently sleep with my phone under my cheek so the vibration of the alarm can hopefully act as a failsafe. And no, hearing is excellent but chronic sleep deprivation combined with heavy sleeping means alarms are difficult. I’ve managed the other symptoms of sleep dep just fine tho :)
