Positive Induction

Alix

Just wanted to share my positive induction experience.

I had back contractions anywhere from 5-45 minutes apart that started on october 13th, which continued until my OB appointment on the 15th, so I asked my doctor about induction and she said I could go in the next night if I was still in labour by then. I was 2-3cm dilated at this appointment. The next night we go to the hospital and were left in triage for 7 hours. They only checked me during that time, and didnt start any medication since they said I was 4cm. We finally got a room around midnight, where I walked around trying to manage the pain. Around 4 or 5am I got the epidural, which was pain free and they hooked me up to a blood pressure cuff that went off every 30 minutes. So still now sleep in 4 days.At 6am they started pitocin, and at 7am they came and broke my water. They said I was 5-6cm I think at this point. They let me labour for a while which was much better with the epidural. At 10am they said I was fully dilated and wanted me to try and push. I pushed for 15 minutes when they realized the baby wasnt down far enough and I wasn't pushing well enough to help her get further down. They propped me with my legs up for what felt like years. My leg and hip were in so much pain from being up for so long, and the baby still wasnt descending enough so they brought up a csection. I told them okay, cause the pain in my leg, the pressure of her head and the fact that they said she might get stuck and be in danger. At around 12:30 the doctor came in, and said no no you can push let's use a vaccum and get this done. So 10 minutes of pushing later, and my girl was here at 12:43. I had a 3rd degree tear since they used the vaccum she came out too fast. Labour sucked, delivery was amazing, and recovery was horrible. But I'm happy with my overall experience.
