HPV and pregnancy help?!?!?!

Just was looking at my lab results online and it said "HPV positive waiting on pap" what does that mean? I'm so freaked out now what if I have cervical cancer? what if I loose this baby and never have another? one?

It means you have a high risk strain of hpv. Hpv can produce abnormal cells than can turn into cancer but that's rare as usually the cells are removed well before that happens and it takes many years for the cells to change. Most likely you'll have a colposcopy, which is like a more in-depth pap, and they'll determine whether you need further treatment or if the hpv will clear up on its own. I know it's scary, I just recently had stage 1 cervical cancer removed but only 1% of abnormal smears turn out to be any more sinister than just needing follow ups till the hpv clears.

Most cases of HPV are not known, because HPV usually clears up on it's own in 8-10 months. Don't stress over it until you hear back! (I know that easier said than done)

HPV means you have the virus, the pap will confirm if you have irregular cells. I was diagnosed a cn3 which is high risk. I had a operation to remove cells and am fine now. I have to have regular Pap smears but have been clear ever since. Don't stress till you know what the results are. Hope this helps ?

I had abnormal cells on my pap when my dr confirmed pregnancy. I never had a pap before and didn't know I needed one, no one ever told me or talked about it. So after my son was born and my bleeding stopped I went to the hospital for a more in depth/more detail exam and it turned out most of the cells came away when my son was born which I was told they might. 6 months later I went in for another exam and all the cells were gone. I have HPV it just takes form in warts on my hands for me. My husband has just developed a wart so he has it and my son has also had it but his body fought it and now his one wart has gone away. Most people get HPV and never even know about it. Unless your dr is concerned I don't think you should be. Relax, take it easy, if your really really concerned ask your dr.
