Would you marry your partner after being told this by your Mother in Law?

My wedding was supposed to be January 2021 but with Covid and my huge family we pushed it back February 2022. 
I was talking to my mom and mother in law at home when she told us “if I were you hun I wouldn’t marry (insert name)” 
I was confused. Of course so many things in my head!! She went on saying I’ll live a life fulll of abuse and violence. He insults her and is a violent person. She thinks he’s drugging himself but I never have suspected drugs. In the 3 years of dating, I never saw this side. 
My mother looked disappointed. She’s making me cancel the wedding plans!!!!

Unless you’re a full ass child your mom can’t “cancel” your wedding. I would bring it up with him and ask why his mom might say something like that. If you can’t ask him then you should t get married but if you trust him then maybe he’ll have some insight and it’ll be good for you.

Wow. I would have to truly examine y relationship and also his mother. Sometimes mothers want their sons to themselves. Some mothers, sisters, and family members are toxic and will try to sabotage their chikdren relationship out of jealousy and wanting to keep their child as a “hisband.” She may very well know she is not gonna have authhority or rule any longer. Is she married or does she have a boyfriend?
      Id also make sure you do your homework. More than wedding planning insuggest premarriage counceling. It is a very evry helpful tool to help uncover secrets, trauma, toxic behaviors, and seeing if your views and goals align and are headed in the same direction.
     How much time hve you spent with your finance? Have u seen his credit report? Criminal record? Does he have kids or baby mother? You just need to look very closely and do your homework before marrying.

2 if he treats his own mother like crap chances are he will do the same to you.

This is why I always say u should move in with ur spouse before marriage.. because until u move in together.. u never truly know that person.. habits.. mood etc.
Just because u havent seen this behaviour.. doesn't mean it's not true.
However.. she might not want him going away from her.
Maybe some things will be more clearer and u might notice red flags either from him or her.

My mother in law pulled me aside bit long after I got engaged and told me to really think about it 'incase he ends up like his father ' (her husband who is a complete asshole).  I did still marry him. You have to just do what you feel is right .
Your mother cannot make you cancel the wedding. It's not up to her.
