Have you ever left someone you had kids with?

If yes are you happy you left? What difficulties did you face after leaving? Would you do it again?

Yes, my ex husband and I separated when my oldest was just under 3. My only regret was us not doing it sooner. It was tough that first year, emotionally and financially, but by the end of it I had my own place again (my parents let me stay with them while I got back on my feet) and a full time job that I really enjoyed. About 2 years after that I met my current husband and I can't begin to express how insanely happy I am. Our relationship is so insanely healthy. Im so glad I didn't settle for someone that wasn't right for me just because we had a kid now that I know what I would have been missing out on. And my kids (had one with my current husband) get to he raised in a home where they see their parents madly and deeply in love with eachother

I left my ex-boyfriend 3 years ago when our daughter was 2 and our son was 10 month. He was abusive in every sense of the word. Emotionally, physically, sexually, financially and mentally. He brought out the worst in me. It was extremely hard at first. I didn’t think I’d make it. Now, 3 years later, I have my own place. Furnished. Fridge full of food. Happy. Healthy. Loved. If I could go back, I wouldn’t change a thing. I’d do it again. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, aside from making my babies.

Idk if it counts, but I was never with him. 🤷🏼‍♀️ he’s completely uninvolved with my child. Never even met my 6 year old, and I prefer it that way. He has kids with other women also. 
I had absolutely no attachment to him whatsoever, it was just a one time sexual thing. He was very easy to never see again, and I’m married now with 3 other children! We are doing great!

My ex left me when our son was 3. My son blossomed after he left. It was a definite positive change for all of us. Before he left, my ex was constantly depressed, sleeping all the tine and we were walking on eggshells all the time trying to make him happy. That’s just too much stress for anyone. It was a huge relief when he left. My son was happier overnight, and I definitely felt a huge burden had been lifted. My son is six now and he misses his dad, but his dad chooses to see him once a week for a few hours. He has other male influences in his life, but it’s sadly clear that he really wants a male father figure and it makes me sad that his dad only wants to see him once a week. His dad chose his new family over our son. My son and I are super close, but I’m not a man. Regardless of our struggles, I feel like he’s much happier this way than if his dad had stayed.
