No cervix checks when breech?

36 weeks and breech out of nowhere (weekly ultrasounds. She literally went breech in 5 days)

I was hoping during a strep b swab appointment to have a cervix check cause I've been dying to know. I feel like a gaping hole and have been leaking soooo much.

But they decided against it and sent me to l&d for a amniotic fluid test (negative)

Do you get an cervix checks when breech? Isn't it a sign of labor if you're dilated? I know they are pushing c-section hard because of breech but don't we want a little indication or idea if I'm dilated and could be coming spontaneously?
