Pumping question

FTM here. My baby is EBF and I just went back to work so I have been pumping significantly more than I had before. I noticed my nipples are now staying pretty pink.. assuming that is normal for just getting started? My question is, is it normal for there to be a distinctive color difference between my nipples and my areola or does that mean my flange is the wrong size? I tried using a size up with my Spectra but it doesn't seem to get any suction and I'm not sure if it's an issue with the flange itself or if the size is incorrect.
