For my two, I washed newborn and 0-3m as close to the end of my pregnancy as possible and washed the next size when they were ready to move into them. Otherwise I washed more than once because they would collect dust or who knows what and it was silly.

When you buy clothes always wash them no matter for whom it is....they are stored in boxes in warehouses were there are roaches and mice...

I’m 28 weeks today, I just washed all of her clothes in her dresser that she will be able to wear right away, then I washed her clothes in the closet up to 6 months and will wash the other sizes as she begins to grow in to them. My thing is they were purchased in stores that many people touched and I want them to be clean and soft.

They are softer after wash. And also they are treated with chemical to prevent mold so they could stay safley in storage, so yes, I would wash it off.
I don't care about washing most of my own clothes if they are new, but I wash all babies.
