Do you need to pay for having baby in USA??

It may sounds stupid.... I am just wondering do people need to pay for their pregnancy and having their baby in the USA?

Does your employer pay for maternity leave ???

I live in the UK and NHS pays for everything... I recently read on social media that people are overwhelmed to pay for their maternity in USA!!!
