Newborn sleep routine!?

Ladies I wanted to know everyone newborn sleep routine . I know babies sleep alot n when they want . I'm just curious do u make them stay up alot or just an hour a time or how . My baby is 6weeks and usually I let him in morning stay an hour play n afternoon but sometimes he just sleepy all day Wakes up  eats n sleeps again another 3 hours . Should I let him or make him stay play after every nap 🙂🙂

Don’t force your baby to stay awake! I made this mistake the first few weeks following some bad advise from a pp nurse. My daughter got over tired which kept her awake and wired. Babies don’t necessarily know that they need to sleep when they’re tired they need to be trained. Best way is to let them make their own schedule. At first it will be all the time then over time they will be more awake when there’s light and certain activity going on. Sleep is as nutritious as feeding in. My daughter struggled for almost two weeks barely sleeping 9 hours in 24 hours. I had to call her pediatrician and he told me to never do that and that information I got from the hospital was completely wrong.  now she’s almost 7 weeks and sleeps all the time again and even goes 5-5 1/2 hour stretches at night between feedings. Sorry for the rant. I hope this helps.

My baby is almost 8 weeks and he still just sleeps all day pretty much. He sleeps 7-8 hour stretches at night though too. He gets up every few hours to eat sometimes starts up for a little. There’s been days where he stayed up for several hours. But their wake windows are only like an hour and that includes eating time. If they stay up past their wake window they’ll get overly tired and it’ll make sleep harder.

My LO is 5 weeks and I just let him sleep, right now I don’t think it’s important to try to get him on a schedule. Once he is getting closer to 12 weeks Im going to get more of a routine going but for now I’m just following his lead.

I follow Taking Cara Babies newborn to 12 weeks guide (started at 4 weeks old) & it changed my life, I wish I had done it with my first baby! LOL 
According to them newborns to 12 weeks should get about 60-90 min of wake time, this will help them fill up their “tired tank” and help them nap & then eventually sleep better during the night. We’re on a 3 hour cycle... I do follow hunger cues and sleepy cues (look these up it’ll make life easier) so my “schedule/routine” is very flexible & we don’t always make it the full hour for wake time (and I don’t force it) and sometimes baby will cluster feed so sometimes I’m feeding her at 2 hours or 2.5 and not the full 3 hours, so our routine isn’t rigid and every day is a little different but it’s something we shoot for each day and it does make life easier! Here’s the routine flexibly follow:
7:15am: diaper change & in the car seat to take big sis to school (baby basically continues to sleep here)
8am: (back home from drop off) up for the day & first feed 
8-9am: wake time 
9-11am: 1st nap 
11am: feed 
11-12pm: wake time 
12-2pm: 2nd nap 
2pm: feed 
2-3pm: wake time
3-5pm: 3rd nap 
5pm: feed
6-8pm: 4th nap 
8pm: feed
8-9pm: wake time/bed time routine
9pm: bed time, down down the night
(11pm: I used to do a dream feed here before I went to bed, but I stopped doing this)
From 9pm-7:15am I get 1-2 longer stretches, so there’s 1-2 wake ups in the night. After I dropped the dream feed I noticed a longer 5-6 hour stretch. So baby tends to wake up around 2-3am and then again around 5-6am.

My son kinda made his own sleep routine. We do a bath at 7:30 pm (we do soap everyday and alternate shampoo and no shampoo). Then he eats for 30 or so minutes (I think he comfort eats here) then he passes out for 3 or 4 hours. Is up around 11-12 eats and gets changed, then sleeps til 2-3 (sometimes 4)eats and gets a new diaper, then sleeps til 7 and eats and gets a new diaper, is up til 9am then eats and gets changed (eats approximately every hour sometimes two and takes cat naps throughout the day). There are days he is super sleepy and sleeps a ton and we just let him, there also days he barely naps and with those days he passes out harder at night. Im not sure when you can sleep train with most babies but I'm thinking 6mo or so? I'm happy with our sleep schedule rn though 😁

Our LO will be a month on Friday and we just let her sleep however long she wants to sleep. We don’t have a schedule set for her with sleeping and same with eating. She wakes up to let us known when she’s hungry and then will stay awake for however long she wants. We’re definitely enjoying being able to sleep longer than 2-3 hours at a time (she’s eating every 4-4 1/2 hours) 😂
