So Nervous about my first therapist appointment

So I have never been for therapy before. I have been feeling alarmingly depressed the past few days or even weeks. Specially if I am on my monthly periods, I get on a different level of obnoxious!

It has caused problems in my relationship mainly. I don’t know who’s fault it is. I don’t know why I love too hard. I really want to figure all this out. And stop being too hard on myself.

Have any of you been to a therapist? Ive booked an appointment end of this week! Please help and share your experiences. Thank you sooo much 🙌🥺

It’s nothing to be anxious about. I’ve been to different therapists when I was younger and started going again about 4-5 weeks ago because I needed it. It really is helpful if you put the effort in. First session is usually knowing your interests, basic info, significant life events good and bad, things you’re currently struggling with, goals you have for therapy. It might feel like the first couple sessions aren’t really going anywhere but you have to give it time before they dig deep into things and start diagnosing. Don’t get discouraged. The best thing is to be 100% honest. If you lie about anything you are just cheating yourself of actually getting the help you need. It’s okay to be wrong, it’s okay to make mistakes, it’s okay to struggle, they are there for you and will not judge you, they just want to understand so they can help guide you where you want to be in life. Good luck!!
