It does hurt to swallow a little bit and i have been smoking quite a bit. If they seem swollen how can I make it go down?

Tylenol and ibuprofen, gargle with salt water.

Do you have any other symptoms or fever? I think it’s uncommon but my primary Covid symptom this month when I tested positive was swollen tonsils. I think it’s a sign your body is fighting off a virus or infection. Nothing helped me but cold stuff. I feel like hot tea doesn’t work
