After your pet passed, how long before you got a new pet ?

My baby passed after having cancer. I had her for 14 years. I got another dog two weeks later. But I just could not form a bond with her no matter what. I felt it wasn’t fair to her. I continued to house train her and then found her a loving home. That was two years ago. 
Easter 2020, a feral cat left her kittens under our house. There was snakes and stuff the kittens probably shouldn’t have been breathing in and plus I figured I’d get them loving homes if they weren’t feral vs if I left them, so I started thinking I should go under and get them. I’m terrified of snakes so I almost changed my mind until I noticed the mama cat was gone for several hours. So I crawled under, brought them in, and bottle fed them. When they were 8 weeks we rehomed 2 and then kept the other two.  They’re big babies.

Still not near the same as my dog, as my dog had the intelligence of a potty trained two year old and emotional wisdom of a 80 year old. But they’re sweet cats. Jerks sometimes, but still sweet.

My dog passed April.. I got my cat in May. But, I booked my cat before my dog died. I wanted to have both of them 😢 dog was stray dog, and I don't know her exact age, she was about 2 when I adopted her and she was with us since 2007.
My cat is just 9 months old

we lost our golden retriever to cancer in July. He was my first baby, had him almost 13 years and both my kids hadn’t lived a day without him. I haven’t had to heart to get another dog, even though my 10-year-old has been bugging me for months for a new one. I still hear him and see him all the time 😞 miss him so much.

A week after. It sounds wrong, but I had gotten 2 kittens and they were brothers. Unfortunately, the one brother had such a bad infection, that he passed away from it. I literally did everything I could with what the vet gave me. This was just 3 months after I got them. I still wanted 2 kittens, and my poor Felix (the living one) was all alone. I coincidentally came across a cat at petco that was gonna be up for adoption that weekend. I got to hold her and play with her and I fell in love. It's been 4 years with these 2 cats. I still miss Oliver, the kitten I lost. But I'm so glad I have Sasha (black and white) and Felix (all black)!
Ignore the random stuff in my bed. 😂

We had 3 dogs and one passed away so tragically and traumatically just a month ago and I really don’t want to replace her.

I had no plans of getting another cat after losing my amazing cat but then once just fell into our path and I felt it was a sign. It was almost exactly 1 month

6 days with the last one. My friend worked at a rescue and phoned me up and said they'd just found a dumped puppy and he had my name all over him! 😂

About 2-3 months. But it was by accident. Our cat passed way and a few months later I found a cat under my car and he was there while I drove 20 minutes away which means he was there when I left my house. After about a week looking for an owner or someone to take him we kept him.

He is 2 1/2 years old now. Found him as a little kitten.

Before my dog died I had 3 puppies that an old friend got and left me to take care of, she then took one in the middle of the night and left me with the 2, in March 2020 my dog died at age 9 had him his while life, i had to take care of the puppies even tho I was hurt, heartbroken, and all I could do was sit there and cry, repeatedly saying he's gone. (Someone killed him but we had no proof so we couldn't do anything) the puppies could tell something was wrong and just layed on my lap giving me kisses (I was trying to find them homes at this time, but due to their breed it was hard). My dad said I could keep them and with the help of a stranger on Facebook I was able to get them everything they needed (I didn't have a job at the time so money was low). So I got a 2 new dogs less then a week after he passed, but if it wasn't for the situation I was put in i would have waited. I'm not sure how long I would have, would have just depended. I'm glad I got to keep these pups they have helped me a lot and my girl in now my SDIT. I really think it just depends on the person. My brothers dog died March of last yeah he had him since he was a puppy (newborn puppy since we owned his parents) and he says he's never gonna get a dog again.
