How did it happen?

So when I was a really little baby (about 6 months old) I broke my leg. My mom told me that I was in my crib and she just went to go pick me up and my leg got caught in the spindles and it broke.

As I’ve gotten older and had my own kids, I just can’t fathom how that happened. The only thing I can think of is that I was crying/screaming and was yanked up out of anger which is how I broke my leg in the crib.

I feel like a mom who picked their child up gently would feel the resistance of the leg being stuck or would be aware enough to see and remove the leg from the crib before picking up her baby. I’ve never questioned their story (I wasn’t old enough to remember it so I have no reason to accuse her of anything different) but it takes a lot of force to break a bone so I just don’t believe you can accidentally snap a baby’s leg in a crib.

It’s been almost 30 years so I’m not “worried” about it, I’ve just recently begun to question it so I’m just curious what you guys think.
