How much ml of formula should a 2-3 day newborn eat?

How much should they drink each feeding and how many hours wide apart? My nurse had told me to only make him drink no more than 20ml but he just gets so hungry and keeps drinking until almost the entire bottle finishes (which is 2oz). Is it normal for a newborn baby less than a week to eat 1oz-2oz of formula milk?

My baby is two weeks now, but at first I’d feed her about an ounce then burp her.
If she still acted hungry I’d give her another ounce.
She’s up to just around 2-3 ounces at a time now.

It’s normal for them to be taking that much, however if your nurse said something i would follow up with her. It’s much easier and more likely to over feed a formula fed baby than a breastfed baby, and the nurse may have had a separate concern that wasn’t communicate. But yes, 1-2 oz is normal, and about what my baby was drinking at + says old. Congrats mama!
