Hospital birth vs Birth center?

Question

If you had a hospital north with your first, and birth center birth for a baby after that, how always you experience and how do you compare the two?
Are there any specific questions you would/ should ask on a birth center tour?

I would never never never give birth in a birthing centre or at home... because I’ve seen the outcome when things go wrong (I work in a NICU). I’m opting for a midwife delivery in a hospital because I also believe it’s the “best of both worlds.” That being said, tons of women have amazing experiences in birthing centres and at home... to each their own, to me it just isn’t worth the risks.

I will be delivering at a birthing center this pregnancy. As of now I really like the care I’m receiving from them we talked about complications happening and if something was to go wrong I will be transported to the hospital down the road. My friend started her labor at the same birthing center but she had complications so she was sent to the hospital down the road where her midwife met her there over she really liked the time she spent at the birthing center. As of now I really prefer the birthing center over the hospital.

I can't give you a comparison, but as an alternative, I had a hospital birth with a midwife.  I found it the best of both worlds.  I had immediate access to the hospital if something went wrong, but a midwife to support my natural birth wishes.  Only downfall is I had to stay 48 hours versus going home shortly after birth like a birth center offers.
A benefit is that with my last, my water broke spontaneously at 34 weeks.  Since my midwife was associated with the hospital, I still got my doctor but was at the hospital with the NICU.  No need for a strange doctor in an already scary situation.
