Should there be more holidays where non-essential businesses close?

Several years ago, some store brands made statements that they wouldn’t be open 24 hours or their regular schedule on certain holiday (including Black Friday) as a way of making sure their employees had a good work/life balance and chances to enjoy their own holidays.

As a consumer, do you feel there should be more closed or reduced hours dates on the calendar? Is it a value statement to you or are you more or less likely to shop or visit an establishment that makes this kind of policy? Or are you cynical and see it as a way for the store to avoid paying holiday wages? 🙃 is it better for a society to have access to goods and services at all times, or best to have breaks from consumerism?
