Issues w/ Marriage, “Hobbies,” & Kids
My husband plays a good amount of video games on the computer. They’re not games he can just pause. He has a schedule where he plays with other people and during the day, he’s on and off quite frequently. I have to bug him to get off and help me with the kids (on his days off or when he’s home from work).
Tonight I got upset because I had to put my son to bed and I was also trying to rock my daughter to sleep. I told him I’m sick of doing so much of it by myself. I’ll admit, I started yelling when I could have conveyed my point without doing so. He told me I act like such a fucking cunt about everything. I lost my shit in front of the kids and I started yelling. I told him he has a problem, that video games aren’t just a hobby, but they’re an obsession and he needs to see a therapist. I told him it’s a childish habit he needs to break. He told me sure, as soon as I stop acting like a child and start acting like an adult (referring to me losing my shit and yelling). I said something along the lines of how it’s so childish of me to take care of our kids without help so he can play on the computer.
I have tried numerous times to talk to him about this WITHOUT yelling. He ends up telling me that he’s entitled to do whatever he wants with his free time because he actually has a job and provides for us, unlike me.
I’m really contemplating packing up my kids and as much as their stuff I can fit in the car (if I’m even allowed to drive it since I don’t have a job to pay for it) and staying with my parents. I talk to his mom about it and she agrees with me, but unfortunately, she hasn’t swayed him to change his ways.
What would you do in my situation? Sorry for any typos. Thanks in advance.
