Independent sleep

Hey all! My baby is 8 days old and I am having trouble getting him sleep independently. He sleeps just fine as long as someone is holding him but the second he is put down he screams hysterically and will not stop. This keeps me up all day and night because I have to constantly hold him and I can’t hold him and sleep at the same time. I’ve tried his pack and play, bassinet, a rocker a boppy and a bouncer and nothing seems to work. Is this something I just have to wait out? I know he’s new but I’m already sleep deprived and am willing to try anything!
