What would you want?

Question

My SIL is pregnant with her first baby. And doesn't have much female support in her life. I'd love to get her something to help her prepare to welcome her baby. What are some things that you think would be helpful??
She is due with her baby 9 weeks before mine is due. So I want to do as much as I can before my baby comes.

I think some form of self-care experience for her would be amazing (massage or facial for instance).

Freezer meals are always great! A soft lambskin is a nice gift as well, and of course outfits for babe and any gadgets you think she'd like for postpartum 😊 you're so thoughtful!

I always appreciate diapers and wipes! How much are you looking to spend for her?

- silicone bibs
- baby shampoo (I liked Hello Bello in lavender)
- can of formula (just in case)
- clothes in larger sizes (I found most of my gifted baby clothes didn't go above 6-9m size; 18m+ she'll be grateful for in the long run)
For mama
- peri bottle with curved spout
- numbing spray
- period pads
- nursing pads
- frozen meals she can easily reheat

This may be way off what you were thinking, but what about some sort of class she can do with baby? I’m not sure what the COVID situation is like where you’re from l, so it might be impossible to physically attend, but some places are still doing online groups. It might be a good opportunity to meet some other mums in her area, especially if she doesn’t have much female support. Or you could always organise them for a few months time since things will hopefully start to get back to normal then 🤞🏻🤞🏻
The other thing I would have really loved would be a mummy/baby subscription box.

My mom and I made my sister a basket but used her baby tub she wanted. We filled it with all of the bath essentials. We also got a laundry basket and then filled that one with clothes as well as other stuff she would need like her bottles, bottle rack, etc. It really depends on how much you want to spend. There are a lot of cute ideas on Pinterest. I also bought her the swing she wanted because that was my number one essential with my first born.

I did a hamper for one of my girlfriends with all the things I found really helpful in the first year. The items weren’t particularly glamorous but my friend used everything and found it all super helpful. Here are some of the things I included: 
- nipple cream, nappy cream and moisturiser for eczema
- weinmeister bibs and pods and a baby cook book
- organic cotton onesies
- easy to grip first toys

Everyone thinks of the baby but I always try and gift postpartum care, and stuff for mom to make it easier after for her. To me that's what helps me so much

Everyone always does dinner meals, but my favorite freezer meal was pancakes my dad made me! So easy to pop in the microwave and it's like a homemade breakfast every morning!
