I had an emergency csection on 12/24. First, everyone is different! For me, my experience has been unexpectedly positive. The first 2 days (in the hospital) I was given Percocet twice a day and that helped a lot. I’ve been on ibuprofen800 ever since. 
My advice would be to take it easy but also make sure you move a little. The first few days “moving” equated to getting out of bed and walking around the hospital room. Yesterday, I took her on a 10 minute walk. Just listen to your body, you’ll know if you’ve done too much. Just stay on top of your pain and take your ibuprofen before you need it those first few days. 
My bleeding has been very minor after the first 3 days. I only need a liner but I found that my underwear came close to my incision and bothered it so I purchased some high waisted underwear off Amazon, so much better! 
The hospital nurse also showed me that a heating pad helps a lot. She also explained that one side of my abdomen was hurting a lot more because they use the extractor on one side. So that helped me from thinking something was wrong.

I just had my second c section on 12/22. Both recoveries have been extremely different. My take away from both so far is this (I hope it helps):
Take the pain meds to control pain for the first week. With my son I didn’t want to take the pain killers and didn’t listen to my body. This time around I listened to my body and gave it what I needed, which was the heavier and pain killers for a few day. 
Make sure to move around, but don’t over do it. Slowly increase your walking distance/activity each day. 
Rest! I know it’s easier said than done, but listen to your body. Don’t try to fight the urge to rest. My doctor told me movement and rest are some of the best ways to recover from a c section. 
Also give yourself grace. It will take sometime. I wanted to do everything myself with my son and ended up delaying my healing because I was over doing it. With this c section, as much as it pains me to ask for help, I have my support system there to help me recover because even though we gave birth via c section, we had major abdominal surgery and there are things we absolutely should not be doing immediately. 
My last piece of advice for recovery is if you feel concerned about anything going on in your body during your recovery, call your doctor and get checked out. It’s better to get clarification rather than guessing and wondering.
