Choice between job and spouse

If your spouse gave you an ultimatum to leave the career you’d worked towards for over 20 years because they felt you prioritized it over them, would you?

My husband told me this morning it was my job or him, and I’m so torn on what to do. He knew from the time we met how hard I’d worked to get where I am and he has always said how proud of me he is. However, now he’s saying there’s not room in our relationship for both and I have to choose.

ETA: Yes we’ve already tried counseling and it isn’t really helping at this point.
