Sound machines vs playing sounds from a Bluetooth speaker and device?

Hi there! I’m really curious from the mommies out there do mommas find a real use out of these expensive baby sound machines? I’m contemplating on what the difference might be from just using a bluetooth speaker or Alexa and playing sounds/music and white noise from YouTube or something?

If you use Bluetooth you’ll most likely need an extra phone, so if you have one then that’s fine. I personally wouldn’t use Alexa or any other smart listening device in my nursery, but that’s just a personal opinion. 
I will say that my 3yo still uses his Hatch rest sound machine every night, so it’s already paid for it’s $60 price tag ten times over. The fact that it’s a nightlight and it can be programmed to turn on and off at a certain time is so amazing because I literally never have to think about it. It’s one of my favorite baby purchases, but we didn’t really start appreciating it until my son moved into his own room.

We have either a fan or clock radio on a static station running in my daughters room at night, works great for us

We have this exact one and my daughter is a year and a half and it still works perfectly. We don’t turn it off, it’s turned on 24/7 because I would always forget to turn it on when putting her to sleep so the tiniest noise would wake her. So, about 18 months of consistent use 24/7 and it still works amazing and isn’t too expensive!

We have this and we love it! You just download the app and you can use it right from your phone! Has white noise & lights (if you want to use it) I just use the white noise option but I like the idea of the night lights on it for when my baby gets older & will want it. 
You also can just turn it on and off manually too

I have never used a sound machine for either of my kids. They go to sleep just fine without any noise. I don’t see any kind of sound machine or noise necessary
