Would you be offended by this?

I was excited because I texted my mom that I was invited to an interview for a grad school program I applied to. Her response was “holy crap! Yay!! You will do great. Do the teeth whitening ASAP. Appearances matter way more than you think!!!” (She has teeth whitening strips she’s been telling me I can use). Would this offend you?

I would not be offended by what she said exactly, but I would be annoyed that she’s bringing up something negative at a time when I’m trying to tell her something positive. Some people just do not know how to be positive for two darn minutes. IMO she should not have brought that up at that point in time. ￼￼

Yesssss that shit is sooooo annoying. 
That reminds me of when my dad said I shouldn't try to date until I fixed my teeth 🙃 
They're fixed now, but I have character, I'm not all looks, but my looks are also pretty decent. Smh. 
Why would I even WANT to date someone so superficial? And anyway I have had to tell both my mom and my dad that ugly people have jobs and relationships. And I'm not even ugly by any means- but it proves em wrong. 
If an interviewer makes it about teeth, well that's WEIRD.
