Is anyone familiar with laryngeal paralysis ?
We took our puppy in (about 5 months) to get spayed recently and they had called us saying they had trouble getting the tube in her throat for the anesthesia for the procedure . They ended up getting her under but the vet didn’t feel confident going through with it because she wasn’t sure if our dog would make it or not have other serious reactions . She also didn’t give her her second set of shots for that reason as well . So we decided to not continue Just in case and they woke her up. This vet ( not our original one we were seeing ) suspected our dog may have laryngeal paralysis and explained what it was and asked if we noticed anything weird with her and how she acted at home. We adopted her from a rescue and the night we brought her home we noticed weird things . She would collapse, she was on my husbands lap and started to fall back and he had to catch her from falling off his lap, she will get stiff legs and will fall from it , she had weird breathing patterns that only have gotten worse . We took her to the vet as soon as we could after getting her (4 days after when they had an opening ) . They gave us meds for nasal mights for breathing but that didn’t clear it . Obviously . We took her back to get checked for her stiff legs and falling , they did an X-ray but it came back normal so they suspected something neurological was going on and to take her to a specialist . I kept mentioning her breathing as it was slowly getting worse , the poor baby sounds like darth Vader. But they kept pushing it off on her bread , she’s part boxer . Then we got that call from the vet who tried to spay her . We have an appointment with a specialist coming up as she may need surgery because she can’t breathe right . She will stop breathing and have these episodes daily , it’s hard to watch and I can tell it scares her too , she gets all bugged eyed and walks in circles till she can finally get air . It’s awful . This type of thing is usually more common in older dogs not babies! Waiting for her appointment is hell I just want her to get help and get better . She’s so sweet and loves to play and go on walks . She always gets back up and keeps going when she has an episode of collapsing due to lack of oxygen to the brain . We have been limiting her activity level like the vet suggested till her appointment . Has anyone experienced this with their dog or puppy ?
