How many words should a toddler say by their second birthday ?

My daughter can say Hi, Hello, and no. That’s all.   Also when I count she puts up her fingers in attempts to count with me. She sings along with cocomelon but I don’t think she knows what she is saying.

I don’t think there’s a number I think exposing children to as much as possible changing up their environment helps. I remember getting too stuck on what the doctors told me. I think these days were so quick to put our children in a box and say something is wrong if it’s not the standard of what someone else thinks.

I think 50 words is average. My daughter definitely does not say 50 words yet. She turns 2 on the 30th of this month. Her pediatrician is going to most likely recommend speech therapy.

Depends each kid is different. Doesn’t have to be super clear to recognize.
My daughter had the basics down. But no was her favorite word. She start calling me by my first name but she could only pronounce the letter “j”. She also knew please. By 2 1/2 she started saying more complex sentences but still sounded jibberish like. And now she is talking beyond the level I expected for someone turning 3 in a few weeks. It’s helpful when you just talk to them and surround them with conversation.

I think 50 words by age 2 is the average but every kid is different. Bring it up to your pediatrician at your next appointment. If anything they may refer you to speech therapy.

My girl will b 2 in April she was a 33weeker so I’m still working on her with her words but she is starting to put her words together now she says a lot of them now ,,just the other day she told me “ puppy pee bath” which told me our new puppy peed in the rr.. all tattletale lol but I knew what she ment.. we always try to talk to her face to face so she is looking at us plus we always repeat words to her till she repeats them back to us.. it takes awhile but kids catch on fast..

Most 2 year olds are starting to use 2-4 word sentences. I would suggest bringing it up to your pediatrician
