They throw away my car seat

I was in a little accident when I say little I mean little. I was In Taco Bell drive through and I car tapped my bumper no big deal right but the other driver called the cops they came did they thing and told me the car seat was no good I told them it’s fine. This cop then tells me you can’t leave with the baby in that seat so I call my husband he comes we out baby in his car but then I see this cop take my car seat out my car and toss it in the big Taco Bell garbage and he tells me it’s the law that any accident makes the seat no good. That’s damn seat was 374.00 and my baby only used it maybe 10 times and it’s a grow with me my husband was furious. We failed a complaint and the department said if the officer is found to be in the wrong the department will replace it 🙄 how long will that take the seat in my husband car is for my other child but it’s also a convertible seat so we just adjusted it for the baby at the accident but we need both seats so it’s either wait it out or purchase another one both my kids have doc appointment Monday what the hell do I do Just ridiculous the other car wasn’t even going 2mph it was a gentle tap like the other car pulled to far forward idk what to do. The department even said it had to be an accident going over 20 or an accident that caused damage.
