Weening 16 month old?

Question

Is anyone else still breast feeding? I nurse to sleep, which has been great. I love it, she loves it. But it’s starting to hurt a lot lately. I’m thinking about weening, but I’m terrified. When she wakes up at night, the only thing she wants is to nurse.

Hey guys I started weaning in December, he was feeding on demand 4 to 6 times a day. I stopped all the random feeds cold turkey and just left 3 feeds, and distracted him  every  time he asked. And took 1 feed out every week..now it's  been two weeks and I'm  still doing  the 1 morning feed. I will be slowly taking that one away next week. 
So emotional about it :(..he's  been handling it pretty well  but I do think he's  been fussier than usual cause he got used to feeding when he felt fussy.
Would continue breastfeeding for longer if my cycle  was back to normal, but it really isn't  and I want to continue growing my family

I'm going to start on Monday! I heard putting band aids on the nipples help but im in the same boat as you and I'm super nervous lol!

I am still nursing. We are night weaned, but he still nurses 4-6 times a day. It's been uncomfortable for me for a while, but I'm pregnant with baby #2. I want to wean so bad, but every time I try he freaks out and I can't handle it. My OB said my milk will dry up soon and he should self wean, so here's to hoping! 🤞 Good luck to you girl!

Maybe she’s not latching all the way and causing that uncomfortable painful feeling. My girl was doing that at night causing me to have sore nipples then I started making sure she was getting the full latch my nipples healed up and she’s been breastfeeding everything is back to normal !
As far as weaning I would start with getting rid of the comfort feeds first.

It took about a month for us to wean. We went from 6-8 feeds to only 3, morning, nap and bedtime. Then we cut out morning by giving her breakfast right away. Then cut out nap time by just putting her in her crib and letting her fall asleep on her own. A few days ago we cut out the bedtime feed in the same way. My husband helped so much through it all. The rest was me just saying no and distracting her with something else.
