Internal exams?

Hey, so I’m pregnant with my first (30 weeks) and I’ve been reading a lot on this app about internal exams at appointments to see how dilated/effaced you are at certain points. I know most people on this app are USA or from other countries - is this a thing in the uk? I have an appointment at 32 weeks and I’d just like to be prepared really 😅

No internal exams until labour as the other ladies have said. If you do go overdue I think they offer you a sweep and check at the same time.

This is not a thing in the UK. The only time you would have an internal during pregnancy here in the UK is if you have any bleeding,  or if you need a stretch and sweep at the end of your pregnancy to start labour.
Even in labour now they tend to limit the amounts of times they check the cervix. I literally was checked once through my labour in March.

You don't have any internal exams until labour. Its just the US that seems to do this. As previously said, it creates a risk of infection, this is why they like to wait to do sweeps over here too. You'll just have your bump measured and position checked
