Milk in night feedings?

I’m gradually transitioning my son from formula to milk. We are at step 1, just trying cut down on bottles and increasing food so he doesn’t end up drinking tons of whole milk. He still wakes up like 2-3x a night super hungry, do you guys give milk during the night? How does that work? I can’t imagine going down to the fridge all night 😩 or do you keep formula for night bottles?

I honestly think your best bet prior to transitioning to milk might be stopping the middle of the night feedings first. Let him keep drinking what he wants during the day but start cutting out those middle of the night feedings. Because once that’s done all you need to do is slowly stop the formula and start doing milk. I think at this point if your LO is still waking at night it’s more out of habit than hunger.

In a similar situation...but my daughter only wakes up once usually and drinks a 2oz bottle and back to sleep... try water he may just be thirsty not hungry. I offer water first, some nights she will take a few sips and back to sleep. Other nights she actually wants the milk. Im working on only offering water, that way she will learn to not expect milk, and I am told this will help then eventually not wake up 🤷‍♀️
