Not talking ?

Question

My boss has a baby a little over a month older than my girl 
He’s talking Arabic and English lots of words 
My girl will be 18 months on the 26 
And she’s does not talk to me at all 
Not even “no” 
She’s gos mamamamama or dadadada but not just mom or dad 
Im just kinda like lost really don’t know how to help her out and I am also waiting for her to just talk to me 🥺

As a speech-language pathologist, I’d like to caution you and others away from the “wait and see” approach. Yes, she still is very young. But getting early intervention as early as possible will really make a huge difference. Yes, all babies and children are different and progress at different rates. But taking this more proactive approach will allow you to either get your daughter the help she needs or put your mind at rest knowing you’ve had someone take a look at her. I worked in the preschool setting and many of our families who received early intervention before age 2 did not need speech therapy once they turned 3.

My little one doesn’t sAy much of anything nor does he do any animal noises. We are always talking to him, reading to him & im hoping one day it’ll just click.

I'm in the same boat with my daughter. I don't think I'll officially freak out until she's 2. If she's 2 and not talking I'll be very concerned. But am going to do a free speech therapy evaluation and hope to get some tips to encourage more talk from her. I also have been talking to her more and narrating what I'm doing...but half the time she's ignoring me and wants to play. I bought one of those echo mics to see if she would be interested in talking into it, but not much luck yet. She just throws it lol.
One day at a time, our girls will be talking soon enough, once they're ready.

My son only says man, dada, and nana. Sometimes dog. At his last checkup they said to wait until 2 years old. If he’s not talking by then, time for speech therapy.

My son also only has a few words, but he makes up for it by knowing tons of animal sounds 🐮 🐶 😂
Things you can do to help your adorable little girl are reading to her, talking to her about anything and everything alllll the time, encouraging her to mimic sounds and simple words, and mentioning your concerns at her next checkup.

First off she is ADORABLE!  
I am also concerned on my sons speech. He was doing so well in the beginning then covid really shut us down and he got zero to little interaction with others. My mother started to watch him while I work since I had the option on not having him go to daycare which is a great but also feel as if it hurts his speech. My mother is older and it’s hard for her to entertain him 11.5 hours while I’m at work. So she would have the TV going. I truly believe this is what slowed him down, since he was doing so well. 
I took him to his check up and mentioned my concerns. He knows his name and will point or grab something if I tell him or if he wants it. He says, Momma, dada, sis, pls (please), bye, and hi. She said they “should” be saying 10 words but they don’t suggest speech therapy until 2 but also it’s virtual right now so I really don’t think any 2yo would be able to focus on that through a computer or tablet. 
But I do agree on just continue to work with her and talk to her about what you’re doing and having “conversations” to her. We started this more and more and already see improvement. Also cut the TV out to 20 minutes a day! Just keep talking and also, talk to your pediatrician! ❤️

My doctor asked if she had 15 to 20 words at our 18 month check up. I would bring it up with your doctor if you fe feel she isn’t talking enough,

My advice would be to keep talking as much as you can! Narrate whatever you’re doing to her (“mommy is going to the kitchen to get so and so”), ask her questions even if she does not reply, sing her songs and lullabies and read her books! I would also mention it to her pediatrician at her next appointment.
