This helps my anxiety and depression
I have been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, ocd, ptsd, and possibly bipolar ( I took a test with my therapist and we are working on figuring it out). I am constantly drowning myself in my head. Constant negativity and racing thoughts. Whether it be negative thoughts about myself, my anxiety with negative “what if” situations, flashbacks, or just distrust in my whole journey. I am the type of person that needs a lot of reassurance from others, and it can be draining for them to meet my high needs. I have to remember that I also have to tell myself these things and to not rely on others to figure out my mood/feelings.
I wrote down positive things about me, things that I like hearing from others that reassure me, things I often forget (such as my thoughts are not facts, I often forget when my mind is racing and I go down a negative spiral) and things that I need to work on.
I’ll read this every morning out loud while looking at myself in the mirror, or if I find myself feeling anxious/negative I will sit down and read these things. It helps ground myself and be mindful to stay in the present. It is not the past, it can not hurt me anymore. It’s not the future, I shouldn’t worry about what could happen. It is today. I am here and living after everything i have been through and I am still trying. I will make the best of today for a better tomorrow. Not only so I can be a better person for me, but so I can be a better person for others.
It sounds silly but sometimes you have to hear these from yourself and remind yourself that everything will be okay, because I know I forget.
I really hope this helps someone, because I should have done this a while ago but I kept telling myself it was stupid. I realize that at this point I have to do anything I can to change my perspectives and behavior habits. Hang in there lovelies, it can get better and it will get better, but you have to put in a lot of hard work for that to happen. I am nowhere near where I want to be but I am getting there. Just be patient with yourself. 💜
