Is parmesan cheese safe during pregnancy?

I just found out that i am pregnant and haven’t been at the doctor’s yet. For some reason i am craving this cheese. However since it is an aged cheese made with unpasteurized milk, i was wondering whether it is safe to eat it during pregnancy.

I’ve been eating tons of it, we use it a lot in recipes. So far, so good. I’ve never considered it being unsafe before. I also ate a ton of it when pregnant with my daughter, and she’s a healthy 4 year old. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I found only one brand of parmesan that is pasteurized. Try to search a little more...
Already ate one that said it was made with  somewhat cooked milk but not UHT.
But I'm really avoiding the unpasteurized...

Parmesan is aged for more than a year I believe, so it's safe even if it's not pasteurized. It'll be even safer if you get the real stuff, since that's generally aged even longer.

Any cheese that is pasteurized (doesn’t matter soft or hard) is safe. Look at the packaging and see what it says.

If it’s unpasteurized then no. Unpasteurized cheeses/milk and raw fish you need to stay away from.
