Second C-section?

Sarah

For you ladies that have had a c section previously...did you choose to try for a vbac or do a repeat c? My dr is giving me the choice but I’m just so nervous.

I felt a lot of pressure to try a VBAC. Everyone always says you should avoid csections at all costs. But once I decided to do a repeat csection, I felt a tremendous amount of relief. You have to weigh the pros and cons for yourself and not think about what others think is right. I had a great experience and recovery with my first csection, even though it was an emergency. I’m developing the same issues I had with my first, so I’m extremely glad I scheduled the csection - it would have ended in another emergency again. You need to do what’s right for you, and stick with that. If you make a decision based on the influence of others, you will always second guess yourself.

I am 24 weeks pregnant with my second . My first my placenta abrupted when my water broke and it was horrifying . It’s been 4 years and my doctor had said I could try for a vbac but I’m too traumatized and will be getting a repeat c section

I chose vbac. The C-section and vbac were also 16 months apart. I’m 5 days pp now and I had a natural vbac birth. It wasn’t scary and I wasn’t nervous, probably because when my water broke I wasn’t thinking about rupturing my uterus. Places aren’t usually vbac supportive so it was nice that my doctor and hospital were because they didn’t pressure me or even mention the words c-section during my pregnancy or labor.

I had two vaginal labors and then a scheduled C-section. Now pregnant with my fourth and final and choosing a scheduled C-section. Loved it so much more than vaginal births.

With my second I tried for a vbac but my son didn't want to come out. I never dilated on my own and by 41 weeks my uterus was about to rupture and my dr said I made the right choice to go ahead with a planned C-section. I'm now pregnant with my 3rd and will be having a 3rd C-section.

Im planning for a VBAC. I want to have the option to have more babies and a third c-section would probably not something I want to do. With that said, a VBAC is not guaranteed. So we are just hoping that this time the baby gets in the right position. I’m nearly 38 weeks pregnant, so I hope he will be making himself on his way soon.

I had a repeat with my second. They didn’t offer a Vbac to me because of the time between csections. And the same with my third I had a 5/6 year gap between 2&3 and it was automatically another csection due to the previous ones and it was made clear the hospital did not and would not support a Vba2C regardless of the time between. I’d say to you, maybe to consider if you want a natural birth and how many kids you’d like to have in future. I know it’s a bit much to think of it all now, but if you’re having the choice to have a Vbac that should be seriously considered with all things in mind.It was recommended to me not to go past the third csection and with that in mind I had a tubal ligation during the last procedure.

I wanted to try, but baby girl had other plans. Every time I had a contraction, her heart rate would drop dangerously low. My nurses kept running in to check me. After the third or fourth big dip, the doctor said he was sorry but he felt like a c-section was a better choice. I was relieved because I was scared to push haha. I’m glad I agreed because baby girls cord was wrapped twice around her neck.

I chose a repeat c-section with my second. I actually just had my third now 11 days ago and I also chose a repeat c-section and thankfully I did because during my c-section the doctor discovered I have a large uterine window and my uterus likely would have ruptured if I had gone into labor. If I could go back in time I probably would have tried for a vbac with my second because maybe if I had only had 1 previous c-section maybe the uterine window wouldn't have developed and I'd still have the option for a vaginal birth with any future children if I decide to have them.

My third was definitely my most painful unfortunately because of all the scar tissue

I’m pregnant with my third and I also have had two previous c sections so I will be scheduling another, my first was a breeze, second was so horrible and painful, do they just keep getting worse? 😢
