NIPT test- Inconclusive gender results
I got my blood drawn on 1/12 for the NIPT test. They said I should get the results between 8-14 days. I got a call about the results today. They got back all the results for the abnormality screening and those were good (as far as that could be seen) and the baby did not seem to have any DNA issues. BUT the gender was inconclusive. They said my blood volume was too high to tell what the baby’s blood was. They want me to redraw my blood on my next appointment on 2/10 and see if they can see conclusive results at that time. However, the company that reviewed my blood said that they have seen this before and there have sometimes been reasons for concern when this happens. They also said that this has happened before and had no issues, the person retested, all results were conclusive, and there were no abnormalities. They suggested to my DR to have an official ultrasound done to make sure that the baby was alright. This all really scares me. I asked the nurse about why the company suggested this and she said she honestly doesn’t know the reason for their thinking but now I have to have an ultrasound to make sure the baby is ok. But the doctor doesn’t wanna do that right away. He wants me to wait until a few days from my next appointment. So now I have to sit here for 2 more weeks and wonder if my baby is ok. I pleaded with them to have the ultrasound now, so I wouldn’t be stressing for another 2 weeks, being as that probably isn’t the best thing for the baby, but the nurse said DR wants it right before the next time I draw my blood. So I am honestly gonna struggle for the next 2 weeks. Has anyone else had this result? What was the outcome for you? Any knowledge on the situation is much appreciated.
