How do I get my mum to understand that I’m turning 18 not 12. She’s very over protective and treats me like a child. What can I tell her to make her see I’m 18 and an adult

I think sometimes actions are more than words. I used to have the same problem, I couldn’t do anything and we have had many arguments about it. Looking back those arguments made it even worse and showed how immature I was. When I was 18 I left my hometown and started uni on the other side of my country. It took some time until she finally understood that I’m not longer a child and started treating me like I always wanted. Your mam can really struggle with accepting the fact you are no longer her child who needs her. Give her some time and try to understand her too. Have a conversation about she feels rather than how you feel. 😊
