Advice from parents that have a high energy kid?

👪💖

I have a son who is 3.5 and has what seems to be an unlimited amount of energy. He is bouncing off the walls (literally) all day. He jumps off of furniture, runs like a maniac, and rides his bike for probably an hour non-stop in the basement. Our area is in lockdown right now, but we take him out for about an hour a day to the school field and let him run free. We will sometimes go to the playground afterwards. Even then, he still comes back with an abundance of energy. Sometimes I think that gives him even more energy than he had before we went.

I dont think I would always describe him as "hyper" but he definitely is sometimes. ADHD runs in my family, however he does not fit the "model" of a kid with ADHD. He is able to focus on activities, but does not have a long attention span at all. If he is doing something he really likes, he could definitely sit still for 20 minutes while doing something like a look and find book or crafts. He also loves hot wheels and loves organizing his cars everyday for probably 20 minutes at a time.

Hes not a kid likes to sit and watch a show or a movie. After about 5-10 minutes hes up and jumping off the couches. He also loves to make as much noise as possible.

He definitely also loves modeling bad behaviour from his cousins, which makes the situation worse. To be honest I dont even know how to discipline him properly.

Under all of this though, he is very sweet, sensitive, and considerate.

Any tips? I could use anything!

Thanks 😊
