Do battery powered fetal dopplers work well?

I've been looking in amazon for a doppler but I can only seem to find battery powered ones. Will this effect quality?

I have a battery powered ultrasound (a Doppler is a type of ultrasound) and it’s a top of the line one I use in my own practice. All ultrasounds are battery powdered unless they’re designed to stay connected to a power source all the time (which isn’t always practical for the professionals either). So no, a battery powered one is fine. 
Though unless you really know what you’re doing you can have a hard time finding the heart beat. You’re more likely to pick up on the blood flow through the placenta or not find anything, especially in early stages of pregnancy. And that can be incredibly stressful for some people. Many doctors warn against using them actually. I use ultrasounds every day and am very good at them, but I don’t ultrasound pregnant women. I wasn’t all that great the one time I used mine for fun and I could visualize the baby too which helps to find the heart when you can see it! I think they’re not worth the money or stress to be honest. Some women like them though.
