I need tips on trying to conceive.  Im 22,and probably smoke half a pack of cigarettes a day,does smoking have anything to do with not pregnant? & I tried taking no ovulation test once before and could never get it to tell me I was ovalating.

So sorry you are having difficulties. It's a horrible feeling. 
Ovulation tests only predict ovulation is coming, which is very helpful for timing, but doesn't confirm it. 
Tracking your basal body temperature (bbt) is the best at home indicator of that. 
There are so many things you can try, so don't give up hope!

Biggest tip is going to be to quit! It can effect pretty much everything; not to mention how hard it will be to quit when you finally are pregnant. If your partner smokes too you've got another problem, as it effects sperm quality pretty negatively.
