..this app makes miscarriage rates seem higher than they are? For example, almost half of the posts I see everyday are from women who say they’re experiencing a loss/miscarriage at my point in pregnancy, where the miscarriage odds calculator gives only a 6% chance... It’s kind of freaking me out and making me wonder if the chance is more like 50%??

Posts in a community forum or on an app are not going to give you a true representative sample of a population of pregnant women. 
There is a phenomenon called “self-selection bias” that is likely making miscarriage rates look higher within this app. 
For example, women who have had difficulty achieving or sustaining pregnancies may be more likely to join an app like this, because they may want the comfort of tracking the baby’s development or be searching for a safe place to talk about their previous experiences with miscarriage. And unfortunately, one of the biggest predictors of miscarriage is prior miscarriage, so women with a higher risk may be more likely to be members of this community. 
It may also be more likely that women who have miscarried or are miscarrying will post about it. They need support, and posting here is a way to find that and feel less alone in their experiences. People who are doing fine in their pregnancies are less likely to post with just a “hey, no problems here!”, so it will look like there are more miscarriages in the general population of pregnant women than there actually are. 
So those are two statistical reasons i can think of for the numbers looking really scary from the posts on Glow. It doesn’t mean that they are as bad as they seem here (although miscarriage is heartbreakingly common).
If the app is giving you anxiety (understandably), take a break if you can, and remember that every week you’re pregnant, your risk drops significantly.

As someone who has experienced miscarriages I think this app is a safe place for women to express their fears and concerns in general over pregnancy. 1 in 4 women will experience a miscarriage, it’s actually very common. Most will go on to have successful pregnancies in the future. If your doctor isn’t worried then you should not be worried.

Also, I was in first trimester with my last pregnancy, I took a break from this app because it was just miscarriages left and right.  I understand they need their space to discuss it, but it was making me way too anxious.

Miscarriages are v v common (like 20%+ of all pregnancies).  with people testing so early here (wtf you are 3w5d shut up) and freely talking about it (I told v few “real” people about my mc) I think this is actually very representative. Also you see a loud and clear “I miscarried” post but you don’t see everyone affirmatively posting, every day, “I am still pregnant”

A lot of them you see are pretty early yet.  I still have a 16% chance according to the calculator.  Weight, age, previous fertility issues, etc are all factors.  Early pregnancy tests mean we find out so much earlier where in the past we may have thought we were just a few days late for our period but were actually pregnant and miscarrying.

The chance of miscarriage is officially 1 in 4 pregnancies however in my daily life, every single mom I’ve talked with has experienced one. It’s a valid and real fear for many of us here and for the women going through it these boards can be a great source of comfort knowing they’re not alone.  You don’t need to participate in those threads but I can say from experience they’re a lifeline.

My dr told me the rate of miscarriage is about 50% most of which occur before the woman knows she is pregnant. After 12 weeks it falls to 5%
