Am I over reacting??

Lexi

So not sure if I am over reacting or its the hormones or what but here is the situation. A coworker is leaving on Friday and a different worker is going to be taking over her cubicle near mine. The new person moving over has a history of coming to work sick. Like she was sick (COVID symptoms) on and off since May. She tested positive for COVID a couple months ago. She is back again and let's just say my work place doesn't think this whole COVID thing is real or serious. Am I right to be upset that she will be moving near me especially when I am so close to the end of my pregnancy or am i over reacting?? I don't know what the research, if there is much, about getting COVID a second time.

I completely understand. I work in an emergency room and still have to work with covid patients/be around it all day but at this point I guess it is what it is for me, just don't want to be sick right at the end.

I don’t think you are over reacting! This whole covid thing is no joke! Could you ask to work from home?

You can most definitely get it again, I've heard immunity after having it has been seen to last 3-9 months so far. I'd be absolutely throwing a fit over it. You have a right to be and feel safe in the work place, speak to HR asap

I think you’re over reacting. You have your own cubicle.

I don’t think you’re over reacting! I think there are a couple things that would make a big difference for what I decided to do next. Is their a mask mandate in your city or in your office? Is it enforced? How big are the cubicles? Do the cubicle walls go to the ceiling. If they are small cubes and no one is wearing masks i would absolutely ask for work from home accommodation or an isolated spot in the office to work. Get your doctor in on it and make sure they’ll back up your request as medically necessary which I’m sure they will!

You have every right to, especially with being pregnant is a higher risk of catching it, your workplace should be able to accommodate you
