Is anyone using a pillow?

Question

He uses a sleeping bag and pillow at day care now that he is 13 months, I think about it but he travels so much in his crib I don’t want to cause issues, we plan to transition later this year to a toddler bed but I think he might sleep a bit better with a pillow, we have yet to sleep through the night more than 2 nights...any help is great! 
Dr said after 12 months its up to us but if he’s ok without it never hurts to wait.

Most crib manuals will actually say that you should not add anything to the sleep space pillows/blankets/toys

We just bought our 13 month old a small pillow and light blanket to begin using. He naps with a blanket on a cot at daycare and does so well, I figured it’s worth a shot! The sleep sack just seems restrictive now that he’s moving so much more

My son has had one since Christmas (he was 13 months old on Christmas) and he often doesn't use it, but we've never had an issue where he got under the pillow or seemed like he would push his face into it unsafely. He has also been sleeping in a very low toddler bed (almost a floor bed, only raised a couple inches higher than the mattress would be on its own) for a month. Because we share a room with him and my 3.5 year old daughter, being out of the crib works better for him. Before, my daughter would climb in his crib and harass him at bedtime and he couldn't get away. Now if she's bothering him he can move around and get away from her (which actually resulted in her bothering him less overall). He will also often climb into our bed. We bedshare part of most nights, and have been doing that pretty much his whole life, so he's used to pillows and blankets being around (though before he was 1, we never would have specifically given him a pillow or blanket, and when he's in our bed he usually doesn't sleep on a pillow or under a blanket). He definitely seems to prefer a soft surface, moving around to sleep on top of duvets instead of on bare mattress, if it's an option. 
I think what your doctor said, that it's up to you, is true. He's probably fine with a low, kind of firm pillow and/or a small blanket, but if you're not comfortable, that's fine too.

2yrs, I’m pretty sure that’s against daycare licensing if you live in the United States
