Why induct?

I have a question. For those of you that’s schedule inductions.... why do you schedule inductions instead of waiting until the due date to be induced? I’m just curious. I might have to join the inductions club but I prefer not to because it’ll raise the chances of asking for an epidural and I’m doing a homebirth. 😁

I’m being induced at 39 weeks because this will be our 5th baby, 1st son. My last baby was an emergency c section same as my first. My doctor is very old fashioned and afraid of hemorrhaging during a VBAC. I’m okay with it but I am also getting my tubes removed on the table.

I’m being induced at 37/1 due to gestational hypertension with some preeclampsia like symptoms. They would rather baby be out and us both healthy than wait and see if things worsen. I’ve had steroid shots for his lungs to help him be prepared as well💙

I’m being induced electively. Baby is small (12th percentile) and my mom & sister have all had to be induced because they didn’t labor until 41 weeks so I figured if he was going to wait and still be in there at 41 weeks, we may as well pull him out so he can grow on the outside world at 39. I’m also very type A and a planner and it just gives me so much less anxiety to know when I need to go to the hospital.

I’m most likely being induced because of my weight I’ve gained almost 60 pounds and I’m only 36 weeks my growth scan next week will determine if I get induced at 39 weeks because now there’s fear my baby is to big for my body but I honestly want to get induced I’m over it at this point I’m ready to get back to my normal self

I'm being induced at 38w because I have antibodies that attack the baby's blood and make him anemic. He is also small. I will say though that I am also planning no epidural and my last son was also an induction and yes it is painful but still totally manageable without epidural. It hurts, obviously, but that's because it's working and your body is progressing! You can still do it!

I live in New Zealand and here they offer an induction on your due date if you've previously had a stillborn.
Both to prevent any complications from going over 40 weeks, but also to reduce the anxiety for mamas having to keep waiting. Im electing to have an induction on my due date mostly for the latter reason

My state doesn’t allow inductions unless it’s a medical reason. I’m being induced at 37 weeks for preeclampsia and my doctor is having a hard time scheduling because the hospital is only allowed to schedule a certain amount per day, which is a low number of like 5. For a few years elective C sections and inductions got popular, but sometimes it resulted in to many problems. The Bored had to crack down on those. ￼

My OB will induce me at 41 weeks if he doesn't come due to higher risk of c section if going past and risks of meconium aspiration are higher and stillbirth. I hope he comes on his own before then. His due date is 2/1/21 and that would be such a cool birthday. But if I have to be induced at 41 it will be 2/8/21.

I’m being induced (literally right this minute 😹) because my first birth was horrid. She got stuck, I had emergency surgery and she had lasting medical issues and physical therapy afterwards. My OB didn’t want to risk that this time around, so we induced before baby got too big. Hopefully she will be here soon!!
