Want to sleep train baby soon.. can I help prepare her now?

💕

So baby is 4 months, I want to sleep train her at 6 months. Was wondering if I can do any little steps now to help prepare her?

She naps 20-45 mins at a time. She goes to bed 7pm-6am. She is up a LOT in the night for feedings though but goes right back to sleep. Probably every 45 mins at least. It’s a comfort thing I’m sure, not usually hunger. She falls immediately back to sleep though. She totally relies on me to fall back asleep.

I try and nurse her if I hear her up and trying to fall asleep again to make sure she stays asleep through the night and doesn’t wake up too much. My husband and I both work so want all of us to get as much sleep as possible, but I’m wondering if I need to cut that habit a bit.. like wait a few mins before I nurse her at least? Just afraid she will totally wake up at that point if I let it go too long.

Also when she wakes up after a nap or wakes up in the morning we let her lay there for a couple or few mins and she kind of just talks to herself. But we try and get her before she starts crying. Bc once she starts crying, she is just in a bad mood from there and doesn’t calm down easily at all. So we’ve been getting her before she starts whining, or right when we hear her start at least. Should we start pushing out the time that we get her? Like add a couple mins?

Or are these even steps to start sleep training, or would this actually be considered the beginning of sleep training itself? Maybe I need to wait a couple months. I’m just stuck.

Our problem is I don’t like having to nurse her all night long. I would LOVE to have a couple hours to myself at the end of the night and not have to go to bed with her bc she may be up in 20 mins, and I don’t want her to get wide awake and think she was just supposed to take a nap!
