Who has final say on how many embryos to transfer?

The couple has some say, but in the end the doctor has finial say and won’t agree to do something they aren’t comfortable with. If it’s the choice between 1 and 2 embryos, in many cases the couple has a very large say

The doctor. My doctor recommends only transferring one, but says if the couple really wants to they will transfer two on a case by case basis. They are very up front that they will never transfer more than two under any circumstances.

The md. They are responsible for your safety, I’m 38y/o, so we have asked to transfer multiples everytime and our md had agreed to the plan. I feel everyone has a different situation though.

Most doctors will only agree to transfer 1-2 at a time.
For most ppl, they're going to encourage only transferring one at a time bc of the risk of multiples.

If a doctor doesn’t want to do something, they don’t have to. This is especially true if it’s counter-indicated by speciality standard practice. Transferring multiples is generally against recommendations for most couples under 35. Some physicians won’t even talk to you about it.
