After having my son, I didn't want to work full time. There was a period of around 6 months where I had to work the full 5 days (and all the unpaid overtime) but then I dropped my hours to part time. I now work 3 days and feel much happier! Is it an option to stay with your current employer but just reduce your hours?

You’d have to be making about 38 an hour to be at 40,000 so i guess it just depends on what type of work you are qualified for and where you live.
