Washing diapers?

Question

Anyone have trouble with their diapers not getting fully clean/bad staining after washing them? My newborn is exclusively breastfed. 
I do a pre soak and rinse with cold water, then wash on hot (heavy duty ) with tide liquid detergent, and an extra rinse. Then dry on delicate. Any ideas why they aren’t getting fully cleaned every time?

Stains dont mean they are not clean. If they bother you lay them out in the sun for a few hours and the stain will disappear. 
But bottom line seeing stains dont indicate cleanliness. If you washed adequately then they are clean. They dont smell like pee or poo they are clean.

Do you know what your water hardness is?
When I had hard water I did 
Prewash- quick wash, cold, with line 3 tide original powder and 1/4 cup of borax 
Main wash - heavy duty, hot, line 4 tide original powder with 1/4 cup borax and an extra rinse 
With soft water I do 
Prewash - quick wash, cold, line 3 tide free and clear liquid
Main wash - heavy duty, hot, line 4 tide free and clear liquid with an extra rinse
I also use laundry agitator balls because they really seem to help get things clean and dry faster 
I definitely recommend testing your water, then stripping your diapers before adjusting your wash cycle

My cloth diaper routine is tide original powder (it has enzymes in it as well as water softer that helps eliminate build up), resolve or oxyclean, and add a few towels. I have just a regular old washer so no pre-wash function so I leave the lid open let the tub fill and soak the diapers for about 30 minutes. Make sure water just covers the diapers so the diapers are rubbing against each other. Wash on heavy load with warm water. The other thing that really matters is not using petroleum based bum care product as they can build up. (I love burts bees stuff).

Dry them in the sun, stain up. The sun will bleach out the stain ☺️

I do a hot 1hr prewash with a half dose of detergent and laundry booster, then bulk up the wash to loosely full (front loader) with muslins, baby clothes, wipes etc and do a hot 3hr main wash with a full dose of detergent for water hardness, machine size and heavy soiling. No stains even with her horrific teething poo.
Stains occasionally aren't necessarily a sign they aren't clean, but if its frequent then it's a sign your wash routine needs rejigging. Sunning only lightens the stain in the top layer of fabric - fine for clothes, but in multi layer fabrics like diapers it's still there underneath, and it will come back unless removed properly x

I do a hot rinse, then cold heavy wash with detergent, then thru another wash with no detergent. 
I use all free & clear
