COVID-19: Out-of-towners wanting to visit our family this summer.... would you allow it?

Question

I have two very young kids, both of these people would be coming at separate times, one single person, one person & their family. 
They both fully expect to hang out and possibly stay at my house. I am very concerned about the virus but have no idea how to respond because since they’re already traveling, it’s obvious that they stand on the very lax side regarding COVID. 
The single person visited my town once before not very long ago, and I managed to get out of seeing them then (without mention of my COVID worries) but I feel like if I cancel again they’ll be very offended this time around, but at the same time, I’d rather not put my family at risk. 
Neither of these people have particularly amazing immune systems & they’re both very social in their own circles. 
The person with their family are coming for a wedding and plan to bounce around to a couple different peoples houses while they’re here. 
If you were in my shoes, what exactly would you say & do?

Nope. This pandemic keeps spreading because people are so goddamn selfish and think visitation is essential. 
If they come uninvited then I’d pretend to not be at home

Just tell them sorry but no. Your home is not a hotel and your family’s health is most important. 
People who have the mindset of “we can’t let this control our lives” while taking the bare minimum precautions, if that, going on like the virus isn’t happening...... are the exact reason why it’s lasting so long. There are plenty of other countries where it isn’t running rampant and it’s because the government did what it needed to do and the citizens care about the country as a whole, not just themselves as individuals.

It’s not gonna be safe in summer, so that’s a no from me.
I’d say, “I wish we could see you, but unfortunately it’s not possible. We are not socializing with anyone outside our household due to COVID. Hopefully we get back to normal life soon, and then we’d love to see you. Safe travels!”

I'd tell everyone straight up that staying at your house is off limits until everyone is vaccinated. It's nothing personal, you're just not comfortable bc of covid...BUT, they're welcome to come over for an afternoon to hang out outside and you'll bring in food.
Any normal person should completely understand. If they don't, then that's their problem.

In this particular situation (traveling, wedding, house-to-house) I’d say no if it were *right now*... and we’re not even super paranoid (but still take it very seriously)... However, with being almost a year and a half of spread and the vaccine being totally available before the time you speak of, and it being summer... I’d wait to see where I stand when the time comes... a lot can change over the next 6+ months. And it’s tell them that... Like, “ We really want to see you but we’ve got kids and we’re trying to be careful. Let’s just see what it looks like when summer comes around”

Nope. I'd do outside masked visits, but that doesn't sound possible in this case. If they want to stay at your house and use your bathroom....nope.

My MIL wanted to come visit and stay with us and our 1 year old (from out of town). while she was trying to figure out travel plans, I found out I was pregnant again and talked to my husband about my not being very comfortable with the visit anymore. We sadly called her and told her how we were feeling in the current climate and she totally had respect for that. If these people that are close enough to you that they think they’ll stay at your home, are offended by your caution and wanting to protect your family, they are not the right people to have around in the first place. Go ahead and put yourself at risk but if you assume you can put my family at risk, get out of here.

Here’s what we are doing for my grandfathers funeral. Everyone is arriving and doing a week quarantine (there is an inn in town that is doing all room service, leaving linens etc at the door for you to change stuff out yourself, really ensuring the ability to properly quarantine) and getting a negative test per state mandate. At that point, we will gather to remember my grandfather and do things as a group that has quarantined appropriately.
Nobody will be branching out and visiting other households outside of this pod we are creating. 
It’s fine to let your family members know they need to follow all guidelines, state, city, or your personal ones or they aren’t welcome. If they can’t handle it, tough cookies 🤷🏼‍♀️

In this situation no. If they were coming to just see you, getting tested before travelling and a rapid test on arrival, etc then I’d consider it. My husbands parents are coming to visit us in a few months- we haven’t seen them in going on 2 years now and since they’re both careful at home and taking precautions when they come visit we’re not too worried. We understand the need for families to see each other and it honestly is exhausting and really hard being apart, especially on my husband. But, in this case it sounds like they’re not being very careful and there are too many risks. I wouldn’t do it. Maybe if you guys talked outside, 6 feet apart with masks then it’d be ok. But no close contact for sure.
